Citizen parliaments – learnings for democratic innovation
COMMIT organizes a public panel discussion "Citizen parliaments – learnings for democratic innovation" at St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences on September 24, 2025 which will be streamed live online.
This event is a follow-up to the Citizens Parliaments on Media and Democracy which took place in Austria, Ireland, Slovenia and the Czech Republic from March to May 2025, as part of the EU research project MeDeMAP.
The roundtable discussion will begin with a presentation of the results of the four citizens' parliaments. This will be followed by a panel discussion with Austrian experts on the impact and opportunities of participatory democracy, and on how citizens' parliaments have established themselves as a policy-making tool, using Vorarlberg and Vienna as examples.
The names of the panellists will be confirmed soon.
This roundtable builds upon the reflection process initiated by the Citizens' Parliaments on Media and Democracy. On 25 June 2025, the Austrian Citizens' Parliament presented its 50 resolutions to representatives from the media and from media and education policy. Here you can find the reports of the Citizens' Parliaments of Ireland, Slovenia, and the Czech Republic and more insights on our MeDeMAP-blog.
